European Belly Dancing

After many years of being known as a dance of different Oriental countries like Egypt, Turkey or Lebanon etc., this new Belly Dance style has been taken out of this context and been adapted to European demands: It`s technique is taught with an international known and accepted system (ESTODA®) which has its own logical international nomenclature. Like in Ballet every movement is taught the same way and can be labeled "correct" or "not correct", which widely still is a problem in Oriental Dance. Therefore, anybody who has learned European Belly Dance can understand the technical terms of movements anywhere. This makes things a lot easier!

In European Belly Dance music can be classical of any style or country, modern, pop, minimal, folkloristic or a fusion like world-music. It is open to any kind of music, and even (with rhythmic instruments) can be danced without music.

European Belly Dance can be danced on one`s own, in pairs or in groups. It can be performed with or without props. Any props are allowed, as there is for example fan-veils, castanets, feather-fans, pois (carioca), double-square-veils, even plastic foil can be used for veil-dance or any other folkloristic or fantasy-item is possible. Classical props like sticks or candelabra are also allowed and can be used pure ore modified.

European Belly Dance has several possibilities to show what you can:
There are six levels with basic technique.
Then there are non-professional awards like coins, stars and cups (they all come in bronce, silver and gold), annual awards and other special awards.

For the technical formation of professional performers or teachers there are the grades: Grade 1 until grade 6, intermediate foundation, intermediate, advanced foundation, advanced.
For teachers there are 3 different levels: associate, fellow and member.

There is a syllabus which gives information on all required skill and exams (coming soon).
